Companion class to Rope Play: Safety, Sense, and Sensibility
Kinbaku 101 is a 1.5-hour workshop designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of traditional Japanese Kinbaku. It includes a review of safety protocols, the history and evolution of kinbaku (shibari) from Edo-era hojojutsu to current practice, a look at the various styles and intent behind them, and a demonstration of how to create a few distinctive, authentic and historical ties such as the mae te nawa (hand-cuff tie), the ushirode shibari (decorative hands in front Buddhist prayer tie) and the one rope gote.
